PFW: Dior Homme SS 2022

Cactus Jack Dior is Dior’s new spring-summer 2022 menswear collection, the result of a conversation between creative artists Kim Jones and Travis Scott.
The participation of artist Travis Scott permeates the entire collection, starting with the title Cactus Jack, which references his latest album.
The silhouettes are not compelling, on the contrary quite oversized, like the pants of the suits. Western influence is evident in jackets with metal buttons on the side and in bags.
Scott and Jones have indeed reinterpreted the codes of the old Galliano Saddle bag adding a double handbag on the shoulder or by hand, practical for the outdoor trips.

Other elements inspired by desert atmospheres are informed in the drawings made by the rapper and then hand-sewn on oversized sweaters.
The colors are bright and vibrant, ranging from neon green to pink, up to blue, finally fading into a raw white.

Scott was clearly enthusiastic about participating in the collection, so much so that the affinity between the singer and the designer blossomed into an organic and complete work, not at all forced. “Making some of your imagination come to life, it’s kind of crazy”, Scott commented.

The collection, however, also presents the collaboration with artist George Condo on hand-drawn t-shirts; the proceeds of these pieces will be donated to charity to future generations of designers eager to study at the Parsons School of Design.
