It seems that this year Venice will not only host the famous Biennale, now opened until 21 November 2021. Saint Laurent has just announced that it will present its next spring-summer 2022 men’s collection on July 14, right among the famous streets of the Serenissima.
To frame the collection, there will be the installations of the American multimedia artist Doug Aitken. The work currently in preparation will remain open to the public on the occasion of the Biennale until 30 July.
The news, however, does not end here. Even Valentino will present its high fashion collection fall/winter 2021-22 in Venice. The collection, Des Ateliers, is scheduled for July 15, 2021, in a location still secret.
“Venice really and spontaneously generates vibrations in art, theatre, music, architecture, cinema and everything that has to do with creativity”, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli stated. “For this reason the choice was made in a natural way”.
In recent months, Venice has hosted other famous events organized by the foundations of Italian and international fashion houses. On the occasion of the 17th International Festival of Architecture, Louis Vuitton organized an exhibition on designer Charlotte Perriand and architect Frank Gehry.
Similarly, Prada Foundation inaugurated the Stop Painting contemporary art exhibition at Ca’ Corner della Regina. Hermès, on the other hand, started a collaboration with Dutch designers Mieke Meijer and Roy Letterlé for the Fundamentals project, which presupposes the creation of a special showcase for the boutique in San Marco.
