Sportmax Ready-to-Wear SS22: the celebration of the essential

At Milan Fashion Week, it is finally the turn of Sportmax, which, as always, it does not disappoint.

This year, the brand’s proposal for spring-summer 2022 becomes much more logical and rational, decidedly less shouted and ostentatious, and this separates the brand with a clear line compared to many others.

What really fascinates about Sportmax is undoubtedly the thrust on dynamic and urban silhouettes, which differ greatly from those of the parent company Max Mara, but the separation is anything but unhappy.

This time, the inspiration comes from the stories of composer John Cage, choreographer Merce Cunningham and the famous dancer Pina Bausch. The intimate connection of fashion with music, as well as with the theories of movement, is already evident.

The result of this combination is a concentration of minimalism and simplicity not too rigorous. The mainly white and marble silhouettes soften on the oversized trousers. Fringes and folds give more volume and dynamism to the garments, disturbing the most minimal symphonies.

Worthy of note are undoubtedly the vertiginous shoes, which slender the figure and soften the minimalist canvas thanks to the more baroque touch.

In this collection there’s everything, sheath dresses, shocking pink cycling shorts, puff and fringe tops, figure-wrapped evening dresses, oversized jackets, and see-through dresses. The colour palette is mainly light, dampened by warmer tones, such as lavender, pink, lemon yellow and green.

There is no shortage of dresses with corsets and floral prints; equally peculiar is the white coat with fringes and patchwork of flowers. The bows, mainly orange and antique pink elegantly wrap the oversized jackets, giving the look a touch of sophistication.

This is how the Sportmax SS22 collection has achieved a perfect balance between functionality and fashion, celebrating movement and the essential in every detail.
