Tom Ford spring summer 2021: back to shine

There is really no need to explain what the mood of the new Tom Ford spring summer 2022 collection is. We see the designer certain of a bright future in which there will be a return to events of various kinds, and in general where people will want to return to shine. Literally.

So stop the uncertainty, the low slippers and the sad colors of suits reminiscent of home ones. Green light to sequins, lurex and fluo colors mixed together in unexpected combinations. And if every now and then a black garment pops up, we are certainly not talking about classic sheath dresses but about suits in leather or shiny satin combined with super heels and strong necklines.

Yes also to showy accessories such as large chains around the neck (or a large number of chains together) and high and shiny sandals in contrasting colors.

Despite the colors and fabrics, however, many of the looks in this collection are sporty and soft. It is like a vague memory of the year and a half so “relaxed” (or at least relaxed from the point of view of clothing) that we lived. Not a complete watershed, therefore, but a natural passage from the sofa to wanting to go out and get noticed.

The big trend of the bra literally used as a top is confirmed, over skirts and jacket-trouser suits, not shyly on sight as in previous seasons.

This is how Tom Ford imagines us in this future spring summer, then. “I think this is a collection full of hope at a time when we all need hope. We need it now more than ever.” Certainly we will be outside the house, breathing summer air escaping from a sad past. Not at all interested in black and elegant clothes for cocktails, but ready to shine on the “catwalks” of all the local nightclubs.
